Product Features Distance measurement range: 10 to 80 cm (3.9 to 31.5 inches) Autonomous robot distance sensor Power Requirements: 5VDC, 30MA (typical) The analog output voltage corresponds to the distance Use 5 volt power supply product description The Sharp GP2Y0A21YK0F infrared rangefinder uses a beam of infrared light to reflect objects to measure their distance. Because it uses triangulation of the beam to calculate the distance, it is able to provide consistent and reliable readings that are less sensitive to temperature changes or object reflectivity. The sensor outputs an analog voltage that corresponds to the object distance and can be easily read using a cheap analog-to-digital converter (ADC) chip. The Sharp Infrared Sensor Holder Kit (725-28995) provides a very convenient way to mount sensors that can easily be connected to breadboards or microcontroller boards using Sharp IR Sensor-to-Servo Cables (805-28995).
